Alan Light with Michael Jackson (photo #2 - Michael's eyes open) - Also with Jimmy Safechuck, the boy who would later (May, 2014) accuse Michael Jackson of sexual molestation celebrities dresses
Image by Alan Light Shot #2 of 2 This is the second shot. After the first photo, Michael turned to me and said he thought his eyes were closed, and suggested we take another one. Sure enough, when I later got the film developed and prints made, his eyes were closed in the first shot. I'm glad he was kind enough to say something and suggest that we pose again for this one. This photo was taken around the pool area of the Kahala Hilton Hotel, early February 1988. This was two years after he was diagnosed with vitiligo, a skin condition, and just one month before he bought the land for what would become Neverland. The small boy dressed like Michael is Jimmy Safechuck, who had appeared in a Pepsi commercial with Michael and was traveling with him. This evening he had ventured out alone with Jimmy to see the hotel animals - dolphins, turtles, etc. Michael Jackson was staying there for 3 days and I saw him 8 times during those 3 days, around the hotel. For a supposed recluse, it got to be funny how we ran into each other around almost every corner. Michael was extremely sweet and nice to us, and we talked to him for about 15 minutes. When I saw him and asked for a picture he said "Okay, but let's go farther away from the hotel. They don't know I'm out here and I would be in trouble if they knew." At the time, I assumed "they" meant his security people but maybe he just meant people in general. I've met hundreds of celebrities and would call Michael Jackson the nicest of the bunch. Image by Jason Hargrove Audiences first discovered Lauren Lee Smith when she was cast as a series regular on the hit Showtime drama series The L Word, which was filmed in her hometown of Vancouver. Her work received much praise and attention when she played an outgoing and very sexual woman in the independent award-winning film directed by Clement Virgo, Lie With Me, in which she had the leading role. Day Two Hundred Thirty Eight celebrity video
Image by Dustin Diaz 238/365. I'll be back â€" meet the Governator in high-def This is Arnold @Schwarzenegger. This shot was taken right darn near 3m 20s in this video during his tour of the Twoffice. The photographer you see in the video is the "official governors photographer" whom asked me to take an official head shot of him (the photographer) before the event started. He was very cool and just getting into strobist kinda photography. We worked well together and avoided getting in each others photos. At exactly 1m 38s during the video you'll see me snapping a few holding up an SB in one hand and a D3 in the other. I posted a few others on the Twitter office flickr account for anyone interested in checking those out. The other thing I wanted to mention about this shot is the irony of catching Arnold behind his security guard with those terminator eyes... I mean really, who would mess with him? Other than that, I apologize for the 2nd day in a row without having a strobist shot... but you just can't pass up having the Governator himself being part of the 365. Hasta la vista mañana.

The North Shore Yacht Club celebrity numbers
Image by slworking2 Bask in its glory. The North Shore Yacht Club is an historically significant--not to mention architecturally significant--part of California's legacy. The North Shore Yacht club was the whimsical design of noted architect Albert Frey, who just happened to be a resident of the Coachella Valley. Completed in 1958 by developers Ray Ryan and Trav Rogers, North Shore Beach Yacht Club was one of the largest marinas in Southern California and carried a price tag of million. Celebrities like The Beach Boys, Jerry Lewis, and the Marx Brothers partied there and / or docked boats at the marina. - The Salton Sea Chronicles Renovation of the old Yacht Club on the North Shore of the Salton Sea; the Albert Frey building will be restored and turned into a community center and child care facility. The .5 million project will create 80 construction jobs. - The Desert Sun A promotional video for the Yacht Club in its heyday - check out how nice this place once was: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTNuRxQaEEQ The Salton Sea is an incongruous sight: a huge body of water in the middle of a desert. And with good reason. California's largest lake was created purely by accident in 1905 when floodwaters from the Colorado River burst past a series of dams and settled in a naturally salty depression more than 228 feet below sea level. Ever since, the lake has been a Southern California oasis, rich in wildlife. Its future, however, is in doubt. The Salton Sea was once a popular place for boating, swimming, fishing, etc., but an increase in the salt level of the water caused large numbers of fish to die and the water became foul. This, in addition to a couple of hurricanes in the 1970's, caused the communities surrounding the sea to deteriorate.

As anyone who has ventured inside recently has noticed, the old asbestos floor and ceiling tiles - as well as the old drywall - have been removed. The East Valley Historical Society and the county (Riverside?) have .5 million in funding to complete the renovation. The building was actually intact as recently as the early 1990's before it was boarded up and eventually fell victim to scrappers and vandals. The building is otherwise structurally sound, however. When the renovation is complete, the building will reopen as a museum and community center. Check out this vid of the club in its heyday: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTNuRxQaEEQ
